Exciting news–all signs are pointing toward a Spring 2014 Broadway debut for Allegiance, The Musical.
No official announcement has been made. But Playbill reports a representative of the production confirms it’s going to happen.
Allegiance own twitter account, @allegiancebway, has been a twitter, about the expected upcoming announcement. “It’s an industry only lab this month… ” tweeted Allegiance, “but with the stars aligning, we’ll be on Broadway next season!”
The show also retweeted various congratulatory tweets from adoring fans. Tweeted @campbroadway: “Allegiance comes to Broadway? Can’t wait! Love Telly, George and Lea!!”
“AH YES! I can’t wait! Such a brilliant show! RT @broadwayworld: ALLEGIANCE Sets Sights on Broadway in Spring 2014,” said another.
Playbill reports Lea Salonga will once again star in the show. No word on George Takei, but its hard to imagine the show without him since its been his passion from almost the beginning.
The show focuses on a family torn apart between their love for this country and their outrage over the violation of their civil rights and the incarceration of Japanese Americans. during World War II.
The show played to record crowds at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego last fall. I was among the record crowd and the show is truly sensational, Can’t wait to see it again–this time on Broadway.
