The Los Angeles School District voted today to name a school after Korean American legendary US Olympian Sammy Lee, reports New American Media.
The new elementary school’s name will be the “Dr. Sammy Lee Medical and Health Science Magnet Elementary School,”
Lee competed in the 1948 London Olympics and the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. He is the first Asian American to win an Olympic Gold Medal.
