The U.S. Navy announced that one of its ships will be named after the late U.S. Senator Daniel Inouye, reports KITV.
The ship which is still to be built will be named the USS Daniel Inouye.
It will be 509 feet long and will be able to travel more than 30 knots.
The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer will be considered the strongest, most advanced surface ships in the world.
Rep Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI) called the naming of the ship a fitting tribute to a veteran who lost his arm fighting for the United States in World War II.
