Former Obama aide Aneesh Chopra lost the democratic race for Lieutenant Governor in Virginia tonight, reports the Business Standards.
Chopra served as chief technology czar for the White House in President Obama’s first term. State Senator Ralph Northam defeated Chopray 54 percent to 46 percent.
“While this was not the result that we hoped for tonight — I look forward to coming together to ensure the Democratic ticket wins a clean sweep in November. The work to bring fairness, equality, and opportunity to Virginia continues,” Chopra said.
The President praised Chopra when he left the White House. “His legacy of leadership and innovation will benefit the Americans for years to come, and I thank him for his outstanding service.”
