Four well known Asian American legal aid organizations have come together to form Asian Americans Advancing Justice, according to Asian Week,
The four groups will maintain their separate boards of directors and leadership. They will remain independent but also operate under the umbrella of their new name and as equal partners.
The four groups were formally known as Asian Pacific American Legal Center, Asian American Institute, Asian American Justice Center, and Asian Law Caucus.
“Our new name reflects a deep grounding in Asian American communities and a broadening approach beyond legal work,” said Chris Punongbayan, acting executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Asian Law Caucus. “Most importantly, it reflects our goal of advancing justice while honoring our legacy and history as the first Asian American civil rights organization in the country.”
