Adam GwonOver 30 multi-ethnic artists will be featured on Second Generation’s “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” reports Broadway World.

The event tonight at Joe’s Pub in New York  celebrates Second Generations 2012-2013 season and will introduce 2G’s commissioned writers.

Among those featured will be composer/writer Adam Gwon (pictured here) who was named one of 50 to watch by Dramatist Magazine.

“Both sides of my family’s heritage are defined by flight: my mom’s father, a German Jew, fled his homeland during World War II; my dad’s mother, the daughter of a political figure in Hong Kong, was forced to flee her home in the wake of the Communist revolution. Growing up, I heard these stories in pieces, trying my best to stitch together the narrative that led, somehow, from these epic journeys to a musical theater kid in the suburbs of Baltimore.”

Second Generation describes itself as bringing Asian American stories on the world stage.
