South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) remains indecisive on running for reelection in 2014, reports the Huffington Post
Although Haley has set up a reelection committee, she is reluctant to run due to the strain that it could cause to her family. Her husband was deployed to Afghanistan in January and they have two young children.
“If we look and it’s too much on the family, I could absolutely see [not running again,]” says Haley.
State SenatorVincent Sheheen (D-South Carolina) , a 2010 candidate for governor, is ready to oppose Haley in the 2014 election even though she has not yet formally announced.
“Governor Haley has made it clear that she will wait until the summer before deciding whether to run for re-election,” said Haley’s political director Kurt Pickhardt. “However, she has instructed our team to get prepared in the event that she does run.”
The election is more than a year away, but both Haley’s unofficial campaign and South Carolina democrats, have already had major missteps in the race. You can hear about that in the Huffington Post.
