Television personality and interior designer Vern Yip shared the latest with TV Guide on his show, HGTV Star, and the contestants.
The eighth season, according to Yip, has contestants who “have seen all the previous seasons, studied the previous challenges, and come prepared with a deep arsenal of design ideas and tricks.”
This season’s cast brings contestants with unique perspectives and large personalities, and the audience learns that even the best can make a mistake and the importance of working together. Team Challenge Partners Cris Mercado and Tylor Devereaux are an excellent example of the importance of teamwork after their camera tripod floor lamp and car hood disasters.
Yip has evolved along with the contestants and the show. The way Yip puts it, he is “definitely not dispensing Design 101 tips to the designers nearly as much as in the beginning of the series.”
HGTV Star airs Sundays at 8pm on HGTV.
