The forgotten two-time Cy Young winner for the San Francisco Giants pitched a no hitter Saturday night, the first of his career and just the seventh in San Francisco Giants history, reports SF Gate.
The no-hitter is especially impressive considering he had just four wins to go with his nine losses before last nights game. He had been pitching so poorly there had been talk that he would be sent to the bullpen.
The 9-0 victory over the San Diego Padres ended with a fly ball from Yonder Alonso.
“I wasn’t thinking it was the last out at the end of the no-hitter,” Lincecum said after a calm Lincecum said after the game. “I was just running on adrenaline the last couple of innings. My mind kept wanting to go into pitching mode.”
Lincecum must have been running on LOTS of adrenaline. He threw 148 pitches, the second most by a Giants pitcher in its history.
He is from Washington state. His mother is Filipino American and his father is a pitching coach.
