The dean of the White House press corp who covered every president from Dwight Eisenhower to Barack Obama died Saturday morning at the age of 92, reports NPR.
She was found dead in her Washington apartment.
The Lebanese American received the Pioneer in Journalism award from the Asian American Journalists Association in 2006.
She served as the White House Bureau Chief for United Press International for 26 years before becoming a columnist for Hearts Newspaper.
Presidents honored her by often allowing her to ask the first question at every White House presidential news conference.
The outspoken and sometimes rambunctious Thomas got in trouble three years ago when during an interview with Rabbilive.com told Israel to “get the hell out of Palestine.” She was dropped by Hearst and retired shortly after.
