Two weeks ago, Nina Davuluri became the first Indian American to win the title of Miss New York.
According to Syracuse.com, Nina has aspirations of becoming a doctor and until a few years ago struggled with bulimia.
In September, she’ll be competing for the Miss America title.
Nina is well aware of the problem many girls have with their body image. She also knows that pageants are often associated with skinny women and aren’t exactly the greatest role models for young girls who may never be as skinny as the contestants.
For that reason, she declines to reveal her true weight.
She is also well aware that she’s the first Indian American to become Miss New York and embraces it.
She performed a Bollywood dance in the talent competition.
