Radar is reporting that Ann Curry won’t be returning to the set of Nightly News to anchor anytime soon.
The on-line publication reports that ratings took a substantial decline when she subbed for Brian Williams recently.
The comparison may not be fair since Curry sat in for Williams during the long Memorial Day weekend, a time when traditionally television viewership drops anyway due to the holiday.
“Over a period of two nights in May when Ann was broadcasting NBC Nightly News, there was a significant ratings decline,”an unnamed source told Radar. “Viewers have made it clear, Ann just wasn’t cutting it. She is a true professional, and her true strength is doing reporting from the field.”
Curry got a third opportunity to fill-in for Williams on June 6, but there’s no mention in the article how the ratings were that evening.
Curry also hosted a prime time special June 28 and propelled the network to number 1 for the night.
Williams is set to go on a one month medical leave next week for a knee replacement.
Lester Holt will reportedly fill in for Williams during his absence.
RE: Ann Curry Won’t Substitute for Brian Williams: Seems like Curry is getting the “run a round” like Jeremy Lin.
