To hear Jeremy Lin’s mother describe the basketball star, he was selfish as a child.
“He used be quite selfish and ambitious,” said Shirley Lin. He wanted to win very much and liked to be the commander when he got on the court. He wanted to be the best player in the game and he never passed the ball to his teammates,” she is quoted as saying in Cross Map.
That’s quite different from the Jeremy of today who is known for his humility, leadership and passing ability. The change in Jeremy came in his high school years when he lead Palo Alto High to the division II state championship.
“He did pass the ball and I could not believe that! ” Jeremy’s mom said.
Lin says much of his own personality is inherited from his mother.
“I was like her. When I truly want one thing, I try all my best for it.”
