International singing sensation Charice made two Chicago appearances over the weekend.
She sang the National Anthem at the Chicago White Sox game at US Cellular Field.
Then she appeared at a luncheon to pay tribute to Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, at Major League Baseball’s Beacon Award Night.
Charice also took time also to pay homage to Oprah Winfrey and recall that Chicago and the Oprah Winfrey Show is where it all began. Oprah is largely credited with introducing Charice to American audiences
“She’s one of the big reasons why I’m here right now,” said Charice to Red Eye.
“Hopefully I’ll be seeing her again because it’s been a long time since the last time we saw each other.”
This is the first time Charice has publicly appeared in the US since coming out as a lesbian. She says support from fans has been tremendous since she made her announcement.
