Backed by three top Republicans with presidential aspirations, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley kicked off her re-election bid this week, reports CNN.
Joining her for the announcement were Louisiana Governor and fellow Indian American Bobby Jindal, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
Analyst says Haley hopes to focus the race on national issues and link her opponent state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, to the policies of President Obama in a state that leans Republican.
