Federal regulators have announced a new crackdown on budget bus companies that have become popular in many Chinatowns, especially on the East Coast, reports Atlantic Cities.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says it will be conducting surprise safety inspections on intercity bus travel in all 50 states.
It made its announcement in Philadelphia where inspectors poured over a bus that had just dropped off 36 Chinese tourists at the National Constitution Center in Center City.
The bus was ordered out of service until the worn out rear tire could be replaced.
The surprise inspections will be conducted over the next two weeks.
Bus passengers could end up stranded as a result. You can read on what options those passengers would have in the Atlantic Cities.
