Big Brother host Julie Chen says controversial house guest Aaryn Gries didn’t turn out anyway near what the producers expected, reports Zap 2 It
Gries who was evicted last week from Big Brother has been at the center of controversy after making remarks against fellow contestants many considered racist against Asians and African American, as well as homophobic.
It was shocking and it was astounding to watch because when she first got picked to be one of the housemates, we all thought, ‘Oh, she’s going to be America’s sweetheart.’ She’s a beautiful girl,” said Chen on the David Letterman Show.
Chen pressed Gries about her comments, reading them back word to word to Gries. The 22-year old at first denied making the comments and looked openly flustered. She then apologized.
“She did apologize. She seemed dumbfounded by her own words. I do applaud the fact that she said ‘I’m sorry if I offended anyone. But then she talked out of the other side of her mouth and she said, ‘But.’ Any time you apologize and there’s a ‘but,’ to me, it’s not a real apology.”
