The legacy of the late Senator Daniel Inouye will live on in hundreds of photos, memorabilia and papers that will be headed from his Washington, DC office to Hawaii, reports Hawaii News Now.
” This is one of the few photos of him before he lost his arm and it was one of the favorites as well.” said his longtime Chief of Staff Jennifer Sabas. That along with the captain bars from the 442nd will be displayed at the Daniel K. Inouye Center for Democratic Leadership in his honor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
His congressional papers are also headed there.
Legendary architect IM Pei will design the Center.
UH Manoa Chancellor Tom Apple says Pei’s involvement is rather rare.
“He normally would not take on a project this small, but because of his connection with the Senator, he was excited to put in a bid for the project.”
