An Indian American teen who snuck into a home to scare her brother and friend was shot and killed after being mistaken for an intruder, reports the NY Daily News.
Premila Lal was a recent graduate and a track star at Niwot High School in Longmont, Colorado.
Her 15-year old brother was with 21-year old Nerrek Daniel Galley, a family friend who describes himself as an avid gun enthusiast on his Facebook page.
Lal’s father said his son and Nerrek did not realize it was Premila and she was shot.
Nerrek has been charged with allowing a juvenile to have a gun without the parent’s position.
Police describe the killing as an accident and have not decided to charge Nerrek in the killing.
