A new report out has found Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Los Angeles County are among the hardest hit by the recession, reports the LA Daily News.
The study from Asian Americans Advancing Justice concluded Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and Native Hawaiians are second only to Native Americans as the group with the biggest jump in poverty and unemployment from 2007 to 2011.

“(For) Southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders, the poverty level is still at a very high level — over 25 percent. What is also alarming is that there’s a rapid increase in unemployment and poverty in the overall Asian American community,” said Stewart Kwoh, of Asian Americans Advancing Justice.
