Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on Thursday swore in Sri Srinivasan as judge on the US Courts of Appeal for the District of Columbia Circuit.
India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur was on hand for the ceremony, according to Outlook India.
The court is considered the second most powerful in the country.
Srinivasan put his hand on the Gita as he recited the oath. He’s the first South Asian American ever to serve as a circuit court judge.
