Vera Wang may be better known for her designer gowns and wedding dresses, but she’s shown a passion for sports too.
In the past she’s designed outfits for ice champions Michelle Kwan and Nancy Kerrigan to wear while performing on the rink.
Wang’s latest project is for the Philadelphia Eagle Cheerleaders , according to Celeb TV.
New designs by Wang will be unveiled throughout the season by the Eagle Cheer squad.
“Vera beautifully achieved our vision for the signature pieces with a fashion forward and sporty look that represents our style, said Christina Weiss Lurie, President Eagles Youth Partnership and Eagles Social Responsibility. “We feel the uniforms are ideal for the cutting-edge image of the cheerleaders – chic while displaying athleticism.”
“It was an honor to create the uniform design that has now become synonymous with the Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders said Wang. “I always embrace the opportunity to work on extensions of my original creations and enjoyed designing new signature pieces for the beautiful and talented cheerleaders to wear this year.”
This is not the first time Wang has worked with the team. The Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders introduced haute couture into NFL Cheerleading when they unveiled their Vera Wang uniforms during the inaugural game at Lincoln Financial Field in 2003.
