Fierce Five member and Olympic Gold medalist Kyla Ross is enjoying her decision not to turn pro, reports Team USA.
Ross who is of Filipino, Japanese American, African American and Puerto Rican descent was the youngest member of Team USA when it won the gold in gymnastics at the London 2012 games.
She was also the only one on the team who decided to retain her amateur status.
“I know that college is really expensive, so sometimes going pro and then going to college you don’t really gain very much,” said Ross. Her family calculated she could earn as much through scholarships and get an education as well versus turning pro.
“Everyone says competing in college gymnastics is a lot of fun, so I’m looking forward to that, too.” she added.
