Vo Nguyen Giap, the North Vietnam general who lead the Tet offensive against the United States, is dead at the age of 102, reports NPR.
North Vietnam lost the Tet Offensive, but the surprise attack by the North during what was supposed to be temporary cease fire to celebrate the New Year, is generally thought to have turned US citizens against the war.
Giap was described by US General William C. Westmoreland as someone willing to take on huge casualties in his quest for victory.
