The biker accused of cutting in front of Alexian Lien on a New York City highway says it was never his intention to slow Lien down while his fellow bikers surrounded Lien’s SUV.
Christopher Cruz faces charges of reckless endangerment and unlawful imprisonment.
He says the whole incident has turned his life “upside down.”
“I never had intentions to slow him down or cause any type of problems,” Cruz told ABC News’ Good Morning America. “I don’t think I feel responsible.”
Cruz appears to be first driving slightly ahead of Lien along side his SUV, looking back at Lien before driving his bike directly in front of him. Lein would eventually bump Cruz with his SUV.
“I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were,” he said. “I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn’t brake but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn’t slow down at all and bumped me.”
The two stopped briefly before Lien took off, his wife explaining he feared for their safety. In escaping, Lien also ran into a few of the motorcyclists, critically injuring one of them.
Police say the motorcyclists gave chase and caught up with him, eventually pulling Lien out of the vehicle and beating him. You can read more about Cruz’ version of what happened on Good Morning America.
