An attorney for a third New York Police officer who admits riding with the bikers in the infamous motorcycle beating says he client wasn’t involved in the assault on Alexian Lien.
The officer, however, does have some regrets, reports WABC.
“I’m sure he is now in hindsight saying ‘Why did I ever do this? This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” attorney Patrick Bonanno said.
WABC did not name the officer, but numerous other reports have identified him as Matthew Rodriguez of the internal affairs division.
Bonanno says the officer was too far back in the pack to see anything and did not know what was taking place.
“Ultimately, he inched his way, saw a couple of fellas lying on the ground – or at least one fella lying on the ground, thought he had been a victim of one of the stunts they performed, and when he inched his way to a free lane, he ultimately left the highway scene,” he said.
