South China Morning Post: Comment on Jimmy Kimmel: “Kill Everyone in China”

CATEGORIES

Jimmy Kimmel LiveA comment aired on  Jimmy Kimmel Live to “kill everyone in China” has drawn outrage from some on the internet, reports the South China Morning Post.

The show that aired October 16  included a panel discussion of children about what to do about the government shutdown and the US huge debt to China.

A boy responded “Kill everyone in China.” Kimmel repeated what the boy said in an incredulous voice.

Some felt the comment, although from a child, should not have aired. A petition on the We the People section of the White House website calls on Kimmel to apologize and the comment be cut from any repeats of the episode.

“It is extremely distasteful and this is the same rhetoric used in Nazi Germany against Jewish people. Please immediately cut the show and issue a formal apology,” reads the petition.

As of tonight, it had collected more than 14,000 signatures in three days.

You can read more about this controversy in the South China Morning Post.
