SF Gate: Could a Naturalized Asian American Citizen Become President?

CATEGORIES

White HouseA proposal from actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger would eliminate the clause in the Constitution that only allows natural born citizens to run for President.

Schwarzenegger denies he would ever run, but the proposal if someday adopted would open up new possibilities including one brought up in a blog by Joanne Bamberger in SF Gate.

She says the hundreds of thousands of adopted children, many who are from Asian countries, would be eligible to become president some day. Bamberger fantasizes of one day being the mother of the first Chinese American president.

What do you think? Could it happen? Would it be a good idea to allow naturalized citizens to run for president?
