The debate rages on in the blogosphere over whether Jeremy Lin should be the starting point guard of the Houston Rockets.
Coach Kevin McHale has been alternating Lin and Beverley in and out of the starting line up this pre-season and has stated both are capable of starting.
The coach has emphasized the player coming off the bench could play a critical role this season.
A commentary by M De Moor in Yahoo stated that “Lin is still a slightly indecisive shooter, and his trigger is very slow in catch-and-shoot situations. On the other hand, Beverley is better at quickly adjusting his feet, and then catching and shooting in a hurry.”
Greg in Sportige had the opposite take asserting that the “Rockets look more like a team and not a group of talented individuals stuck together when he’s on the floor. It might mean that James Harden doesn’t do whatever he wants because he does respect Lin and likes him playing next to him, but if the other players and especially the head coach buy into the notion that playing team basketball instead of a selfish style will be what brings them more than they achieved last season, Lin is going to be enjoying next season.”
The NBA regular season kicks off this week.
