Mad Mobile News recently reported that Asian Americans were overwhelmingly more likely to own tablets over other ethnic groups.
According to a new survey released by the Pew Research Center, 50 percent of Asian Americans, age 16 and older, own a tablet. Hispanics were the second largest ethnic group, with tablet ownership at 37 percent, followed closely by Caucasians at 35 percent and African Americans at 29 percent.
The study suggests that while 35 percent of Americans own a tablet, ownership rates of the mobile device can vary greatly by demographic.
Other notable results from the survey include the highest tablet ownership rate among 16- to 17-year-olds with 46 percent claiming to be tablet owners, and suburban areas having the highest percent tablet ownership rate, with 37 percent of suburban dwellers claiming to own tablets.
Tablet ownership also seems to be positively correlated to education with almost half of college graduates claiming to own a tablet, compared with 21 percent of individuals owning a tablet without a high school diploma.
The study proposes that while 35 percent of Americans own a tablet, possession rates of the cell phone can fluctuate significantly by demographic.
