Chinese American designer, Jasmine Zhou, is ready to spread her wings. The DC native debuted her fashion line HudieFly at DC Fashion Week in September.
The name HudieFly comes from the term “hudie,” which means butterfly in Mandarin Chinese. According to the HudieFly website, the name stems from Zhou’s fascination with a butterfly’s metamorphosis which mirrors a woman’s life journey.
Zhou is the CEO of HudieFly which was founded in 2012. The brand utilizes eco-friendly materials and donates 10% of proceeds to charity.
Asian Fortune recently interviewed Zhou about her philanthropic business model.
“I want to create beauty and love and just have as much to be given back as possible…our business model is to have our consumers, our customers vote on the causes and charities that we would donate to in the future.”
