Rep Mike Honda has won a key endorsement from KAYA: Filipino Americans for Progress, in his race for re-election in the San Jose, CA Congressional race, reports the Inquirer.
Despite being the incumbent, he faces a huge disadvantage in fundraising against his challenger, political novice and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Ro Khanna.
In the last quarter, Khanna bolstered by big time Silicon Valley money, reported a treasure chest of $1.9 million. That’s nearly four times more than Honda’s $550,000. The Indian American also boasts endorsement from many big time Silicon Valley heavyweights while Honda has the endorsement of President Obama and Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi. Honda also has a big time advantage in name recognition.
There are 60,000 Filipino Americans in Honda’s district, so an endorsement from KAYA: Filipino Americans for Progress is significant.
