Broadway World: First song & video released from cast recording of Allegiance

Allegiance Ain’t it Grand in Paradise, the first song from the new cast recording from the highly anticipated Broadway show Allegiance has been released on Broadway World.

The song by Jay Kuo is performed by the cast’s ensemble which features George Takei, Lea Salonga and Tony Leong and reflects the big band influence of the World War II era.

Allegiance set box office records when it had its world premier at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego last year.

No official announcement has been made about a Broadway run, but all signs point to a possible Spring 2014 Broadway premier.

Broadway World reported last week that the show is still trying to line up star schedules and theater availability.

The show is the story of a Japanese American family torn apart by their loyalty to the United States and the injustice of violating the constitutional rights of Japanese Americans by sending them to prison camps without due process.
