The Asian Student Council which oversees 40 Asian American Pacific Islander student organizations at Rutgers University is demanding a new Asian American Cultural Center, reports the campus paper the Daily Targum.
The Council has been housed over the last 14 years in a trailer, which was supposed to be temporary.
“The biggest problem with the cultural center is the lack of space,” said Marielle Fajardo, a third-year student in the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. “It’s just not enough resources for us to use when the Asian-American population takes up 20 percent of the student population on campus.”
