Filipino American contestant Ellona Santiago failed to advance into the top four of the talent competition, X Factor, last night.
The 17-year old from San Lorenzo, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area had wowed the judges throughout the competition.
“I feel I’m watching a superstar,” said judge Paulina Rubio after Santiago’s performance Wednesday night of the Beyonce hit. “I just feel that you have everything that it gets to be the ‘X Factor.'”
But it wasn’t enough. The fans voted her out. Both the judge’s and Ellona were left with their mouth open in shock when the result was announced.
“A lot is going through my mind. I don’t know. I didn’t give the strongest performance last night,” said Ellona after the results were announced. “And I just hope I can have another chance.”
Her mentor Demi Lovato was equally shocked.
“I’m actually a bit speechless because I feel like a lot of really amazing people have been sent home, but didn’t’ deserve to go home so soon, but Ellona is definitely one of them. She could have won this competition.”
