Ten South Asian American student groups at Harvard joined together to sign a statement condemning an India Supreme Court ruling reinstating Section 377, the ban on gay sex, reports the Harvard Crimson.
The statement reaffirmed the groups’ commitment to “serving as open and positive spaces for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities.”
The groups said they were “disheartened” that many alumni are deemed criminals in the eye of Indian law.
On Sunday, students from both Harvard and MIT staged a demonstration in front of the Harvard Square MBTA stop.
You can read more about that in the Harvard Crimson.
