Just two days after returning from a knee injury, Jeremy Lin is out of the Houston Rockets line up again–this time with a back problem.
The Ultimate Rockets reports the point guard began suffering back spasms after running into an Andrew Bogut screen Friday night against Golden State.
Lin (pictured during the pre-season enjoying a meal after a game in the Philippines)was out of action for two weeks and missed six games before returning Thursday night against Portland.
“I only played him 14 or 15 minutes in Portland because you could tell he was out of rhythm,” Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson said. “The game kind of dictates your substitution patterns, … but I certainly made an effort against Golden State to get him more minutes. He needs to get in a rhythm. We’re disappointed that he’s out, not nearly as disappointed as he is, I’m sure.”
The spate of injuries inflicting Lin led Patrick Harrel of SB Nation to joke “Lin suffered a totally real, not trade related injury (editor’s note: I’m totally kidding. Please don’t take this the wrong way).”
Lin has been the subject of persistent trade rumors that he would be packaged in a deal with teammate Omer Asik who is disgruntled about playing back up to Dwight Howard.
No time table has been announced of when Lin might return.
