A settlement has been reached by an Indian American family after the poisoning death of Uroof Khan (Illinois Lottery photo) shortly after he won a one million dollar lottery jackpot, reports the NY Daily News.
The winnings along with his estate will be split between his widow and his daughter from a previous marriage.
Both sides promised not to sue each other unless a Chicago police investigation turns up new information.
His daughter Jasmeen Khan, 18, will get one-third of the lottery winnings and five condominiums her father owned.
The wife, Shabana Ansari, will get the remainder of the lottery winnings and will get to keep the three dry cleaning shops she jointly owned with her husband.
No charges have been filed in Khan’s death.
“This is not an ending anybody would hope for,” said Ansari’s attorney, Al-HaroonHusain. “But it is what it is.”
