The growing political influence of Indian Americans is being noticed back in India.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the accomplishments of Indian Americans especially in the political arena, is big news back in India.
News about California Secretary of State Kamala Harris, who is Indian American and African American, and Rep Ami Bera (both pictured), just the third Indian American elected to Congress, is followed closely by Indian news media.
“There’s always been this tremendous interest in the community where they can feel proud that their sons and daughters are doing so well.” said tech entrepreneur M.R. Rangaswami, who has contributed to both the campaigns of Harris and Bera.
The Indian news media is also watching the campaigns of Ro Khanna, who is running to unseat Rep Mike Honda in San Jose and Neel Kashkari who is considering a run for California governor.
