Hang Tran has become the first Vietnamese American woman ever elected in the state of Georgia.
The Clayton News Daily reports Tran was sworn in to the Morrow City Council along with the first African American to sit on that council.
“She broke the ice and now a lot of younger people in the Vietnamese community are going to be looking to her as an example,” said Vietnamese Community of Georgia President Kim Hanh Dang.. “Everyone is going to be watching her to see what is she going to be like as a council member, and to see what she is going to do now that she’s in office.”
