Firefighters are investigating arson at the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, reports ABC7.
Surveillance video shows a van pulling up in front of the Embassy New Year’s night. The fire broke out shortly after.
Witnesses say they saw two men pour buckets of gasoline on the front door before setting it ablaze.
The fire damaged the front door, lobby and upwards toward the roof.
“The arson attack is a violent attack targeted at the Chinese Consulary Institution in the United States, causing severe damage to the consulate facilities,” said Wang Chuan of the Chinese consulate.
