It seems to be happening all over the country–Indian American households are being targeted by burglars hoping to find gold and other expensive jewelry.
It happened in New Jersey where a man was sentenced to 20 years for burglarizing Indian American homes in Burlington County, New Jersey.
It’s happened in Northern California where police have warned Indian American families.
And it’s apparently happening in Norwalk, Virginia, according to The Hour.
Police say it’s been happening there for five years where the thieves typically steal cash and gold.
Families there have been advised to rent safe deposit boxes, which really should be the norm for any household that has valuables.
Apparently burglars have discovered that Indian Americans enjoy purchasing gold, and many of them leave their jewelry in drawers and jewelry boxes in the home.
