A blog by Reappropriate published in Racialicious contends that Asian American women are underrepresented in the bloggersphere dominated by men.
Reappropriate did a survey and found that in the AAPI community, 55 percent of the bloggers are men and 45 percent women.
Reappropriate asks what obstacles might there be to more Asian American women blogging.
She asserts that Asian American women face a lot more backlash and bullying on line, citing an article by Conor Friedersdorf in the Atlantic.
Reappropriate talked to several Asian American women bloggers who said they shut down their blogs for that exact same reason, or pulled back from expressing their personal opinion in favor of the more traditional straight news format.
If this is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, it would be sad.
Diversity of voices in both gender and color is an important aspect of the bloggersphere and I would encourage more women let their voices be heard.
Thinking back, AsAmNew has had a handful of guest bloggers and interns in the past year and the majority have been women.

Interestingly, I'm a female Asian American blogger who has been blogging since 2009. I have 2 blogs, but on my "lifestyle" blog, I have recently written about how to deal with Internet (and real) bullies. Here's the link, as it seems appropriate and hopefully helpful: http://lanivcox.wordpress.com/2013/11/30/how-to-d…
Cheers.
