Police say 21 pedestrians died in traffic accidents in San Francisco last year and many were Asian immigrants, mostly elderly.
Investigators believe differences between traffic system locally and in Asia may be causing confusion.
I’m told that traffic patterns there, they flow differently than the grid type patterns that we have here to that people may be accustomed to a different type of traffic pattern,” Police Commander Mikail Ali said.
Mayor Lee is considering three proposals to reverse the trend, but says a bilingual campaign is definitely in the works.
