CBS: American imprisoned in North Korea holds news conference urging US to win his release

Kenneth Bae

Under guard during his news conference, American Kenneth Bae who has been held captive in North Korea for more than a year urged the US to win his release, reports CBS

It’s common for American prisoners to speak under duress in these situations, and many analysts suspect that’s what the North Koreans forced Bae to do.

He said he has not been treated badly during his stay in prison.

“I believe that my problem can be solved by close cooperation and agreement between the American government and the government of this country,” he said.

Analysts believe Bae is being used by North Koreans to win leverage in talks over nuclear arms.
