Republican National Committee Member, Dave Agema, issued an apology on his website for controversial remarks he made against Muslims and gays earlier this month. Despite calls for his resignation following these remarks, he said he is not resigning his position in the RNC.
The former state representative from Michigan came under fire after he posed the question on his Facebook page, “Have you ever seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life?” .Prominent RNC members, including Betsy DeVos, Rep. Justin Amash, Rep. Bill Huizenga, and Rep. Fred Upton, have called for his resignation in the wake of these remarks.
In his apology Agema wrote, “I have made comments considered by some, to be insensitive, inflammatory, and inaccurate. In retrospect, I acknowledge errors in judgment and how I addressed them, feel badly about the impact this has had on many here in the land I love.”
