Seattle Seahawks Doug Baldwin knows one thing for sure about Sunday’s Superbowl against the Denver Broncos.
He told GMA he won’t be carrying the Philippine flag the way he did in a game against the Minnesota Vikings to bring attention to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
“That’s not happening,” he simply said.
Baldwin’s mother is from the hardest hit area of the Typhoon–Tacloban, Leyte.
The Filipino American brought a lot of unexpected attention to himself when he inadvertently carried the flag in upside down which is a symbol of war.
He’s just happy to report his family got out safely.
Looking at the throngs of reporters in New Jersey to cover the game and everything the players do, the humble Baldwin tried to keep things in perspective.
“I think this is unnecessary and overwhelming to some degree. I am a football player. I don’t save lives.”
