Could this be the first great Asian American sitcom?

Eddie Huang's Fresh off the BoatIt doesn’t have an air date yet, but a pilot based on Eddie Huang‘s bestselling memoir Fresh Off the Boat  is already getting some buzz.

As AsAmNews reported this summer, ABC commited to the pilot in August and announced that it would be produced by Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23 creator Nahnatchka Khan.

This week ABC formally announced it was moving ahead with the project.

“I have high hopes for this one,” wrote Phoenix Tso for Jezebel.
