Northwest Asian Weekly has compiled a list of Asian Americans competing in the Winter Olympic games.
We’ve already written a lot about veteran US Olympic hockey player Julie Chu and short track skater JR Celski, but there are others.
Felicia Zhang will compete in doubles ice skating with her partner Nathan Bartholomay. She’s been skating since the age of 7.
According to the Crow’s Nest, she’s a freshman at the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg.
She describes her partner as more intense and herself as more laid back.
When she’s not on the ice or studying, she enjoys watching old television programs on TBS or Nick at Night. Still she admits its all about the skates.
“I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t on the ice all day,” she said.
Alex and Maia Shibutani are the brother and sister ice dance team (pictured)
The Shibsibs as they are known realize brother and sister working together may seem like an odd pairing to some, and admit its a difficult one at times.
Through it all, they manage to get along.
“But we do have a very close relationship,” Alex told Yahoo Sports, “where we’re able to skate together and spend time together off ice.”
Madison Chock is a 21-year old ice dancer from Torrence, CA. Her father is of Hawaiian Chinese descent. Her dance partner is Evan Bates.
Let’s not forget the paraolympians.
Jen Lee is a goalie with the Paralympic Sled Hockey Team.
A motorcycle accident in 2009 forced doctors to amputate her left leg above the knee.
