Some 500 people turned out for a candlelight vigil to remember a family of four killed in their Houston home, reports the Global Times.
The murder has both shocked and galvanized the Chinese community there.
Community leader Qiao Fengxiang urged those in attendance to stand up for their rights and interests.
50-year-old Sun Maoye, his wife Xie Mei, 49, and their children, Timothy Xie Sun, 9, and Titus Xiao Sun, 7, were found dead in their bedrooms after police received a report that Maoye had not shown up to work for several days.
Many wept as people placed flowers and lit candles in the family’s memory.
Police have no suspects and no motives, but have ruled the case a homicide.
“He was a great learner…an excellent researcher…a truly great guy.” said Maoye’s supervisor Russ Stevens.
